# Sharing chats and editing together

A shared chat gives people access to a conversation and its video. Use **Share** to choose workspace-wide access or specific people, then choose whether they can **view** or **edit**.

View access lets someone inspect the work. Edit access lets them contribute messages and changes. Owners and Admins have Workspace Manager authority, and Workspace Managers can edit videos in their workspace. Do not use chat privacy as a boundary against your workspace's managers.

## Live editing

People viewing the same Mira chat can see who is present. Saved changes to the composition appear in the other open previews. Moving or editing an element updates the shared composition; each person's playhead and playback remain local.

Presence is not a promise that every hover, text selection or intermediate pointer movement is broadcast. Use the committed position or property change to confirm an edit has arrived. A reconnect may need to reload the current composition before showing the latest state.

## Messages and steering

Edit access allows a participant to send messages. A message sent while the agent is running can steer the ongoing work. Connection permission is tied to the participant making the request, not simply the chat's creator. Read [Connections](https://docs.motion.so/product/connections.md) before enabling a personal account in shared work.

## Forking and reverting

A fork creates a separate continuation. It does not transfer the source chat's organization or billing history to a different payer. Use a fork when you want to explore another direction without changing the original conversation.

Where the chat offers a revert action, review its target before confirming. Reverting an edit does not undo an external publication, provider purchase or already completed export outside Motion.

## Lost access

Removing a share or workspace membership removes the access it granted. An old URL does not bypass the current permissions. If a link opens an unavailable-workspace message, ask an administrator to check the account and workspace assignment rather than creating another account.
